Steve
Hudson started in the training business when he worked for 3M Company and
Xerox in London and Washington DC as salesman, manager and international
trainer. He was responsible for developing innovative ways to help increase
sales. He was also a director of Personnel Evaluation and Research, an American
company of psychologists who provide psychometric testing to the business
world. Hudson soon realised that actors were excellent communicators because
they were trained specifically to use words more effectively. He then trained
at the Royal National Theatre, learning from the same voice coach who taught
Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton and many other famous actors. Following
this training he became one of the leading voiceovers in the UK. A familiar
voice who posed the question, “Who knows the secret of the Black Magic
Box?” You heard him as Superman when he chased the evil Nick-o-tine
across your screens in the famous million pound anti-smoking campaign, and
in the Old Spice adverts he tells you it’s “The Mark of a Man”.
His voice advertises many other products including Kodak, Martini, Ford,
Shell, Pentax and Guinness. Steve also runs seminars at The Actors Centre,
and advises actors on how to start in the voiceover business. He recently
ran a Master Class on Talk Radio on the Nancy Roberts show. He firmly believes
that everyone has the potential; they just need to be trained.
